k i've been thinkin (dont tell anyone) I heard about how usb can power devices like they have usb lights and fans and stuff i wuz wondering if anyone knows how much voltage it puts out but if u can find the resistance thing then that is kewl 2 i am tryin to fix my laptop which can doesnt get power from the mobo so i have to find an alternet power source that is on the board and the 15v is from the bat

ummm ... why dont you just get the laptop refurbished? ... i would highly not recomend you mess with a laptop like this lol.

i dont think they would like that i took the whole thing apart and have done various mods and that the hd doesnt work and that it isnt under warrenty and i dont want to pay much to fix it. a new sys board cost $546 i dont have that kind of money

what kinds of mods have you done to it? are they reversable? ... i would seriously consider getting it refurbished. you can still get it refurbished just not for free because you are out of warranty<BR><BR><BR>btw what are the specs on it?, brand? model? ... i might be able to find a section on the board that you can solder a new outlet for a 5v connection for you.

its a compac presario 1700T 800mhz p3. I found the pinout for a usb cable and 1 is +5 and 4 is gnd so i really dont need any help but thanks Ive had this thing layin all over the place for like 3 months now and i just thought of that.
