I'm going to get a new intel 2.4c and I've heard great overclocking from the IC7-G but a lot of stability problems. The Gigabyte board is stable with mild overclocking what i was wondering is if I would be able to overclock a chip to at least 3 ghz on the gigabyte board.

About the only advice I can give here is to do a Google search and read some of the reviews that were done with the board.

Whoops! LOL! cigarrettes is right about that! Every review I have read about Gigabyte boards shows they fall significantly behind other manufacturers when it comes to overclocking.

yeah but the problem with the abit board is that ive heard a lot of mixed reviews on it. some people say it sucks(www.tomshardware.com) while other (www.hardocp.com) say its the best board out there. I have a gigabyte right now, very nice featured richd. It's also less, I'm not sure what to do. I'm looking at the Asus boards also, but why in the world do they have to be so damn ulgy : /. Also anyone know anything on the Lanparty Pro boards on how they overclock/perform?

I have an Abit IC7-G and it died after 2 days. I mean totally died. The only sign of life was the standby power light, and Abit tech support was no help. Took almost 3 days to get a response. I'm gonna try the Asus P4C800 this time and hope my luck is better. That LanParty Pro you mentioned didn't get the highest OC'ing marks in the reviews I saw. You might check out www.8dimensional.com and see what reviews you can find there for the different Canterwood boards.

BTW, you got that right about how ugly the Asus boards are. I'll be in no hurry to put a window in...

Later....

I had some time to kill before catching a movie with my g/f last night, so I spent the time perusing through pc magazines at Borders. According to the article in CPU (Computer Power User) magazine, the Asus P4C800 Deluxe ranked the highest and the Abit IC7-G ranked second. I'm not sure the Gigabyte mobo they reviewed is the same one you're talking about, but it ranked toward the low end.

I'm pretty sure im going with the Asus P4800Delux-E or something like that since it has support for the Prescott processors just in case I wanted to upgrade my overclocked 2.4c
