Well, I'm getting close: 17881!!!
and that's with only the GPU slightly overclocked. Gonna break it tonight when I get home. I got a much better OC on the VC RAM last night than I ever did in the SOYO. Kind of strange, but it was up to 373.25 before it visibly artifacts, and I can't tell at 369, except that my 3DMark score dropped a bit from 361.00

How do you post that link in your siggy? I know it don't work the same as in a post, or does it?

Whoohoo!!!! 18707!!!! That may have topped it out. I still have to disable all the background services in 2000Pro, so I may still tweak out a few more points.

Viper, it's fairly easy HTML code. Mine for example is:

3DMark2001SE - (a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6845480">17881</a)

Replace the first ( with < and the last ) with > and you are a go.

I wonder how high I can get if I OC my system high enough to run 3DMark stable for one run, and OC my vid card. I'm pretty sure I had my system at 189 FSB before, but it's only stable up to 160, according to Prime. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

LOL. I was talking to GNX the other week about the same thing. I have scored higher with an overclocked system that wouldn't run Prime95, but ran 3DMark just fine. There really isn't any accounting for that when you are browsing other people's scores. What I wonder is how people are scoring 20K with a lower clocked 2.400 GHz processor (12xby200FSB) and stock 9700Pro (according to their comments at least). I'd like to know what registry hacks they are using....

Well, it looks like I've topped out at 18738 for now. I'm looking into getting a couple more reliable PSUs. Then we'll see if I can't OC the card and the CPU any higher.

Im making myself a new custom gull tower case for my new cooling system to fit then Ill post some new scores, I will at least hit 10 k which i am very happy about

New scores yet again. Somehow I've tweaked another 123 points to get 18861. Yeah baby, I can almost taste 19K now!

Excellent work my friend.

A semi bug I found in 3DMark2001SE is that the Game 1 tests FPS's fluctuate quite a bit. For instance with my system overclocked I find that game 1 (both high and low) sometimes vary up to 20fps! If I do poorly in Game 1 I'll also do poorly in Game 3 as both tests are very system dependant.

Usually I'll reset and try again till I get a good Game 1 test before I proceed. If you compare your two scores where did you get teh boost from?

I just noticed the same thing last night with game1. Anyhow, I'll have to get back to you later about what improved between the two.

Cool dude. Post both scores and we'll see if we can get you to 19k!

18960!! But any manner of tweaking doesn't seem to gain me another point. LOL!
Dude, this is messed up!The difference between my last 2 was minimal, even less than the one that scored higher, except for game 4 Nature. What's the deal? I guess I should run it several times in a row and see how much they vary.
AAAAAAAAAAaaaa, only 40 points shy of 19K!!! I need some RAMsinks. LOL!
My new Antec 480 came tonight. Maybe I'll stick all that in and give it another go.

06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Man if you got 93 fps in game 1 high on your 18960 run you'd get 19k...

That';s weird taht your nature went up 6 fps though. Did you overclock your card any higher?

Just did a compare of my score to yours, wow can you ever tell what parts are video dependant.

3DMark2001SE is not as bad as 3DMark03! That's a pure videocard benchmark!

I did just that and still didn't break 19K! This time Game 1 low scored less(by13fps!!!). Only 21 points shy. Sigh.
I even changed my PSU to the Antec, raised the core voltage as high as 2.0v and still couldn't get a better OC than I had at stock voltage. I have got to get myself a voltmeter and try that VDD mod you showed me.
Maybe I'll just return to those same settings and try running it 5 more times to see how it varies.

That and a multimeter so I can mess with that VDD mod you showed me (Thanks BTW ).

WTG, rithem!!! Man, you've really reached atmospheric levels there with your 3DMark2K1SE scores! I'm impressed!

In my experience, 3DMark2K1SE seems to love higher FSB. I think you're on the right track with getting better NB cooling to raise the FSB a bit more. I hope that works for you, man. Keep going and do us proud!!!

RAM sinks and air flow over them will help you get over 19K.

Colin
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
3DMark loves high FSB's because Dragothic is very FSB intensive... I noticed that when I moved from my P4 2.66B to my P4 2.4C...

What Northbridge cooler did you get? If you want optimal contact between the nForce2 and the HSF you may need to lap the chip as it's not flat. oh ya like DeanLowe said airflow is important.

Yeah, RAMsinks are going to be ordered this weekend. There's already a 120mm fan blowing directly on the card, so I'm not sure what else to do there. perhaps move the mount from the side to just in front of the drive bay as I'm not using that at the moment and that may increase the wind-tunnel effect somewhat. Good thing I have plenty of zip ties.;-) A NorthPole NB cooler is on my birthday wishlist (stupid me), so I have to wait until 09-11 to see if somebody didn't already send me one. :-)
BTW, thanks for your support Ginsu. This has been a blast (well, kinda frustrating at times, but I'm amazed at what my own set up has achieved)! Getting to see the comparisons firsthand (NVidia/ATI, VIA/NForce2) have been very interesting.
