View Full Version : Thermaltake G4-VGA Coolmod and GeForce Ti4600
Has anyone modded their GeForce4 Ti4600 with this mod? I am thinking about buying it and I want to know how much of a pain in the butt it was to install?

Click here, and at the bottom of the page, they show you how to put it on. It uses the holes that are already there for the stock HSF.

Usually they are very easy to put on. The only thing that can be a pain is if they used good thermal epoxy to put the stock HS on there. Usually you just twist it a little and it will loosen right up.

I've read somewhere that if you stick the VC in the static-free bag it came in and put it in the freezer for a bit, the Thermal interface material that usually comes with the stock HS hardens enough to pop off very easily. You might give that a shot.

That's a nice suggestion....never thought of that.
Thanks for the help. If all of the old thermal paste does not come off, what can I use to get it off?

rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.

I hear carb cleaner also does the trick.
We did the freezer trick on my friends Radeon 9100 and I might do it in a little while if I get a new GPU cooler. Im going to a local PC store to get some thermal paste & epoxy cause i just cut some nice Ramsinks

The freezer idea works very well. I used that to removed the stock cooler on my Gerforce 3 Ti200 and it came right off after being in the freezer for a little while.
