View Full Version : Help a knewb OC better
So I'm kinda new to the overclocking thing. How can I overclock better. This is the best I was able to do

And how are my temps?

What can I do about my AMP system?

It would help if we had some system specs. I see you are running a Pentium4 Northwood, but what version is it stock? I do agree that you should be able to score a bit higher on those benchmarks though. -33C core, I take it you are running with a Prometeia or Vapochill?
I see you are running just shy of 300FSB. I know Colin was having some problems running 300FSB on his mobo because of some bug inherent in the chipset (had to run a little higher to reset the PCI/AGP lock).
You have to be the first newb I've met using phase change cooling though.
Oh yeah, welcome to PCStats Spek4!
LOL

I'm not really a knew...just buging Colin. My p4 system is as follows

Asus P4P800 dlx with a vdimm mod
Intel 2.4C
OCZ pc3700EL Gold 2x256MB
Cooled with a Swiftec MCW5000 PT w/226W pelt
Water cooled with a home made water chiller

Getting over 300FSB is a major PITA as both Colin and I know. We were trying to figure it out but the trick we found doens't help much

The amd system is a friends....he wanter to see how low he could underclock it

Steve

LOL you had to use your phase change cooling to underclock it? how far did you overclock it using that cooling?

If you can get those low temps then why did Colin "have to" get the prometia?

What version of Sandra are you using? Looks different than mine.
Haha... welcome to my world Spek4.

Those are some excellent Pentium 4 numbers you have there! I don't think I'll be able to top your memory bench as I like to run aggressive timings and the only DRAM I have that's good is my old XMS3500 CAS2.

Are you still experiencing the problems above 300 MHz FSB? You're using a waterblock on your northbridge right? Is that chilled as well?
