Hey Shiz, did you get put on active duty to go to Iraq or Afganistan?

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
No. Being a member of the New York national guard, we had to stay here for obviuos reasons. Lots of Airports and Nuclear Power plants need full time guards.

I only have 2 thigns im picky about
1. AMD of course
2. Fl_lCK MSI!!! I have had to RMA this board twice now, and i will never buy MSI again.
I was thinking the epox 8rda+, or whatever else is good.

Ginsu543
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
Yeah, I say go with the Epox or the Abit NF7-S rev 2.0 mobo. Just make sure they are nForce2 Ultra chipsets.

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
Those are both awsome boards. I have the 8RADA+, which I may have fried before work. If it is fried, I'm going to buy myself an Abit NF7-S rev 2.0 Mobo. I loved my 8RADA+, but I'm always looking to try something new.

<< Fl_lCK MSI!!! >>

Amen Brotha

<< which I may have fried before work >>

from your post with Stressed, I'm willing to bet it's just the BIOS chip. excaliberpc.com does sell BIOS kits (I think it was Ginsu that introduced me to this idea) for NForce2 chipsets.
Say, have you tried pulling the CMOS battery as well as the PSU plug to see if that wouldn't clear things up so it would boot?

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
My BIOS chip is fine. Nothing happened when I was in the BIOS. I just set the settings too high, and the system wouldn't boot.

maxpowerz
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
O, it says MSI KT4V in his sig... Isn't that KT400?

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
I thought he was talkinga bout his K7N2....that thing may have bit the dust. The KT4V is a KT400 motherboard.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
I dont think anything is really wrong with the k7n2, i just dont wanna play around with it, thats y im using this kt4v. and sorry max, it isnt for sale, however the k7n2 is. If you wanna buy that one i could always rma it then sell it, right now it is for sale, i want 80$ for it cause it still under warrenty.

maxpowerz
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
What are it's specs, and 80$ is quite a lot for it unless it's new-ish. I can get a a7n8x for 120$ (canadain right?)

CompSnake
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
yeah canadian, its only like 3 months old

maxpowerz
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
Oh 80$ canadain is pretty good, what are its specs? And why did shiznit say it's $hitty if its only 3 months old?

CompSnake
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
If you wanna buy it ill do a advanced RMA on it and then sell it so you get a brandnew board.

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM

<< Oh 80$ canadain is pretty good, what are its specs? And why did shiznit say it's $hitty if its only 3 months old? >>

Not to ruin Compy's chances of selling his MSI K7N2, but mine caught fire, so I'm not very fond of the board.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
are you sure that your not blaming msi to cover up your own mistakes?

hehe.. j/k

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 01:26 PM
LOL.....no. I admit whenever I F$&# something up. That helps you to learn what you did wrong, and then not make the same mistake again.

MSI did not follow the industry standard when they configured the USB pins on their mobo. To me, that's like wiring someone's house everywhichway and expecting you to cut up your plugs (you know, lamps, TVs, clocks, etc...) and insert the bare wires into outlets just to get things running.
I don't think Shiznit was in the wrong when he figured the plugs on his CoolerMaster would work when it had the exact same configuration and was labeled for USB. Have you ever tried to replace the spark plug wires on a V-8 without knowing which plug they were originally attached to or a manual showing you which order the cylinders are supposed to fire in?

You don't seem to have much luck with Mobos. You need to find one you like and just stick with it for a few years

Avid6eek

In the last year I've probally put over 1500$ into my computer. New ram and a mobo is probally going to cost me 400$ or so. I currently have about 600$ saved up. I also need another hdd and a raid controller. So basically if I buy all that I'll have a nice computer and be broke .
** How about that for spelling and grammer?**

Wow.....I think I probably spent close to $2,000 on parts over the past year. The biggest expenses of the year were a $500 Sony Trinitron 21" monitor (needed for games), Radeon 9700, and a Radeon 9800, for $250 each (needed for gaming), and my newest CoolerMaster case for $265. Everything else was close to $100 or cheaper. I expect to spend between 2000, and 2500 this year. So many changes that I need to keep up with. I don't know why I need to keep upgrading....it just get this craving for more speed....then I'm broke.

edit: Oh yeah....a $250 leather chair.....must game in comfort

I have a full time job, am a full time student, a full time girlfriend, and am in the National Guard. Busy life.

It's just like another job. It helps pay for school. I guess if I had the choice to join, or not to join all over again, I would probably join. It's been an interesting experience.
