I "upgraded" to xp pro and my score went way down. check it out. I ended up reinstalling xp home. Same exact hardware and drivers.

XP home originally - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7061314

XP Pro "upgrade" - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7058352

XP home again - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7061314

The only thing different after I reinstalled home edition for the second time was that I changed my cpu multiplier by 1. Any ideas why pro is doing so much worse?

XP Pro will benchmark the same as XP Home. There was some kind of difference in how you had the two version set up.

The only difference between Home and Pro is some of the mutliuser support and administrative settings type stuff. Pro was built for business use and enterprise type client use. Home was obviously built for home or small office. Both perform the same as far as I know... so I agree with Shiz.

Its your OC
Its unstable. If you look both clock speeds are different. I had the same problem. If the clock speed varies slightly that means instability. WinXP pro takes slightly more power than Home to run, so the instability affects ur score more. Just lower your FSB a little and try again. Or try raising your Vcore.

It's also easier to backup your system with Pro. My college only had Pro available for a student discount, so i got pro for $100.

Here is a link that shows the difference between XP Home and Pro.

I always like the higher end of Software but the only reason I switched to XP Pro from 2k was because of Remote Desktop Connection which isn't found in the home version.

Stangz is a very Anti-WinXP Pro type of person. There are features in WinXP that works perfectly fine, and are easy to use, and that fool will go out and get crappy 3rd party software that makes everything more difficult. Software sense is not one of his strongholds. He is however good with networks. He could network a toaster to your car if you so needed.
