Im not sure but maybe your ram cant handle such overclock.. where are you living? near otawa or something.

Well you all know ( Atkeast I think you all know) That I am going to try for 3ghz out of a 2600+.
And I know its pretty much impossible but thats never stoped me before. Curentlly I'm at 180x12.5(2250). and i owe it all ot this duct

It droped my cpu temp 10C and alloud me to get the fsb past 176.
I'm gonna update this as i get more MHz out of the cpu.

Heres my plan for coler temps.

LOVE THE DIAGRAM!! hope you reach 3ghz

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
I was just about to suggest what was in the diagram before I saw it (damn mind readers).
If you have PC3200 cant you just up the FSB to 200MHZ?

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
I dunno, i couldnt last time i tryed, so now im slowy increasing it
ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
thats wierd
Looks like you have more cold air going into the rig, than you have exiting it. Your going to freeze the room the computer is. In all reality, you just need the cold air going to the CPU. The CPU isn't going to warm Winter Canadian air up very much, so there will still be plenty for the rest of the system.

Well I was gonna have 2x 50cfm fans coming in, and 1 1200 106cfm taking out.

lucky you really dont need any strong coolers! In California, everything seems "warm"

Some 92mm Tornados would help you out Maybe like 3 or 4 or 5 of em.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
If did that I'd have to cut some new holes in my case.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Colin gave me a tip and now i ogt my fsb at 200.

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
so whats your resulting Mhz?

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
right nopw its 1600, but im gonna keep the multiplyer at 8 untill i reach the max fsb.

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Compy,
I was thinking, and I know what you have to do.
First find a room where you can put the PC on a desk near to a window. Open the window like 200cm then put a peice of plywood or whatever with 92mm holes in it get the same tubing that you have, attach it to the wood, one for intake and one for exhaust. Then wait till its cold and overclock away get it up to 250FSB
250MHz x 12= 3000MHz
or
230.769230769230769230769230769231 MHz x 13 = 3000Mhz

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Thats what I have planed, but i really dont think ill get an fsb of 250 or even 230, i was thingking like 200x15

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Boh Yeah! 2.424ghz

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
your mb can go up to 15x?

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
I think my Abit goes up to 16x. A lot of them max around 12.5 or 13.

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
mines 12.5

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
I think I can go up to like 20

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Ok, I think ive maxed it out. Its at 202x12 (2424). I tryed to hit 2.5 but windoes wounldn't load, so I uped the voltage and my computer went nuts.
Right now my temps are 22 and 10 (duct.). Anyone got any ideas, and i cant get the fsb any higher.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Yeah, it is kinda cold here i guess.

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
How cold is it a night? MAbye later in the winter you can se the sub-zero air to get the 3GHz

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
right now its like -1 outside

ari4324
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
So how is someone suppossed to get 3Ghz only with a pentium?

TranceJunkieXL

Clock speed is not a good way to measure the performance of a CPU. AMD has proven this time and time again when their benchmarks match or exceed a "faster" Intel chip when at a much lower clock speed. The majority of the population does not have a clue and only see that GHz number at the end.
I have seen AMD systems posted at 3GHz, but I believe those individuals had a Prometeia/Vapochill attached to both the CPU and the North Bridge.

GNXtreme
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
or they are quoting the PR rating and not the actual GHz....

Assimilator87
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Hey Compy, you should ask Colin if you can borrow his Prometeia since you both live in Canada. If you can't reach 3Ghz even with a Prometeia, then

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Haha. I'll ask him, but he's not gonna let me.He's only like a hour and a half away, 45min if im driving.

06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Compy isn't hitting 3Ghz

....."The dream of 3ghz." <---- Time to wake up Pal!

Got any ideas on how to get my fsb up higher( like how many mhz will a crystal orb get me?)? And i can't run my system at 2.4 unless i have it hooked up to outside air.

CompSnake
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Wanna host them?

Avid6eek
06-15-04, 02:26 PM
Send me picks of your scores (jpeg) and i'll host them for you. Colin will also host pics, but he's pretty busy. Just send them to me and I'll put them in a thread.
