<BR>The following problem that i have with a K7S8X SIS746 Chipset is occurring on PC that i built for a frined of mine.<BR><BR>PSU - 400w<BR>CPU - 2200XP (AMD) currently the jumper are set as FSB100 -this is running at 1500 (1.35 gb) -runs Ok<BR>Every time i set this to FSB133 , The PC freezes.<BR>Why is this ?<BR><BR>remainder of spec<BR>256mb ram PC2100 DDR<BR>Western Digital 20gb Hard drive<BR>64mb Gforce 4 MX440 (AGP)<BR>DVD player<BR>On board sound is enabled<BR>WINDVD software<BR>Windows XP Professional<BR><BR>Now, my home PC has same motherboard as above but with a 2.4gb AMDXP (runns @ 2GB which it think is the right speed)<BR>FSB is set @ 133mhz<BR><BR>Nb: the bios does have 2 setting for clock speed either auto or manual.<BR><BR>Can ne1 help.<BR>Cos shes paid me part of the cost of the tower etc, i said she has a XP2200 cpu, and im completly baffled?<BR>Regards<BR>Loki <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR><BR>

Changing the FSB of 133 really affects 2 things....the Memory, and the CPU. One of them does not want to run at that speed. You should swap those two things out with the parts in your system until you determine which one is at fault.<BR><BR>When you set the clock speed to Auto, what speed does it run at?

FSB100 mhz it shows when i set this to Auto.

Well your going to have to try swappking out the CPU and RAM. This should point you to the problem.<BR><BR>FYI...CPU speeds are in Mhz/Ghz (as opposed to gb)

You might also check the voltages on that PSU as well.

When I helped poly build his rig we had a similar problem, turned out there was a jumper on the mobo that had to be switched. And it changed the fsb from 100 to 133. Before we switched the jumper over we couldn't change the fsb either, so it could be that, It's just a thougth.
