welcome to Pc Stats, SAigonW

as this forum is full of AMD users, every one will tell u to get an AMD rig. that looks like a nice rig, but i dont know why u need 2gb of ram. if ur gonna spend all that money might as well spend it on a Atlon 64 system. im pretty sure the guys will back me up on this, and stick around, you'll get good advice here.

BTW. nice naruto avatar.

I think I'd cut the RAM to 2x512MB for 1GB total and then spend the money saved there on an Athlon64. The Athlon64 currently beats the pants of that Pentium and it can only get better when Microsoft puts out the 64-bit version of WindowsXP.

But ElrichMeister is right there is a bunch of AMD fans here... so the opinions express will likely all bear this slant. It's not unfounded though. An AMD based system can often crank out the same or better performance for a lot less money than an Intel pf the same performance rating. The AMD CPUs and Motherboard are less expensive than the Intel stuff. I thoroughly beleive the AMD is a superior processer... the simple explaination for this belief being that AMDs run at much lower clock speeds than Intel but still perform.

I think your right i was going overboard 1GB should be enough,
yet with todays applications i will need it in the near future.

I run many web based operations and Thinking of running up a Server for gaming.

BTW i won the money for the RIG im not actually paying for it.

An Athlon 64 rig with a Radeon 9800 XT would cost the same price as that system, and it would totally blow it away.

Shiznit just ordered his Athlon64 from Newegg.com. If you live in the US, they are one of the best places to buy computer hardware. Also, if you plan on overclocking at all, I recommend buying a case without the el cheapo 420W PSU (mine came with a TurboLink piece of cr@p that burned out in only 4 months on my non-overclocked SOYO system). Invest a little extra in an Antec, Zalman or Fortron model (they've been winning awards left and right this year). You will find your voltages run a little more stable when overclocking and don't overvolt your system when running stock (my Turbolinks have burned out the LEDs in all of my expensive case fans) .
How did you win this system upgrade? Sounds awesome.
If you want to OC, the P4 2.4C is a much better overclocker and costs less (if you insist on Intel over AMD64). With a Prometeia and Abit's latest MAX3 Colin has been running his at 4GHz.

Colins P4 at 3.8Ghz gets the same 3DMark score as the stock Athlon 64 3200 with the same video card.

I really have a good feeling that even though I'm going to take quite a hit in processor speed (Mhz), my 3DMark score should go up. I'm hoping to run the CPU at 2.2Ghz with my Muskin PC3500 at 440Mhz CAS2 2-2-6. I think it should work out nicely. I also finally got a good OC utility that allows me to clock my Radeon Core/Memory as high as 3Ghz Not that I'll reach that

What utility?

Ace emailed me link to a utility. If my system boots with my new hardware tonight when I try for the first time, I'll be able to send you the link. If it doesn't boot and I have to reformat my HD, then the link will be lost forever....or at least until you can get it from Ace. I have the program saved on my second HD. Hopefully in 10 hours I'll be posting 3DMark scores that are a nice improvement over my current ones.
