I decided to see just how my computer would compare to some of the scores that im seeing here. I ran the mark, and was severly dissappointed with the results. I wasn't expecting to have a huge score, but I expected more than this. I ran a default test, and my computer is running at pretty much standard everything; no OC. Here's the link My Score I think the number has something to do with the word written on the side of my computer, but if im wrong please let me know. I'm also a little confused about my 800mhz fsb comparing so badly to other much lower fsb ratings, so im probably misunderstanding somthing. If anyone would like to help me out a bit, thank you. And remember, OCing is pretty much out of the question right now, Dell locked the BIOS and my FX5200 doesnt like to run much over default. Thanks all.
Probably should mention that the score is 3DMark2001SE and that the cooling system, ive been told, is made to be quiet, not to perform. Thanks again
make sure the advanced properties of your card are all set to performance, and make sure to take off vsync, you definately be getting a better score than that. even though a fx 5200 is not a good performer u should be getting a higher score than that.

Noticed that texture sharpening was on, turned it off. New 3DMark2001SE score only 5515. Compare

Took the PC2700 out, ran again: Compare
Gained 1 point from previous. Also when replacing the other memory, noticed my 250w power supply... at least thats what it says.
Guess I probably should stop trying to play with it before it fries.
Thanks

DO NOT REPLACE THAT POWER SUPPLY!!!!!!!!!..........im almost 100% sure that dell uses proprietary wiring on their power supplies.....but still im not completly sure.......dont touch it until you make sure.

your score is probably limited to your video card...I put one on my XP1700 rig that is running 1.85GHz right now with a FX5200 and 5500ish was what I scored...

Thats the conclusion ive come to as well... my little brother has a 9500pro and he was getting alot higher fps in 3DMark2001SE, but i never got a bench because it always crashed in nature. But the point is that he had higher fps running an AMD thunderbird 900... not even agp8x...
Thanks

wow, that is a really bad score for what your running, my amd 2600+ just about doubled that stock.
maybe its because yours is a dell?

caffeine, that FX5200 is really a POS from what I've seen and read about it. GNX has already returned the one he bought for the wife because the Ti4200 in his system outperformed hers dramatically. From what I've seen, the only thing the FX5200 improves on is the MX line (which is a horrible 3d card anyhow).

The FX5200 is definetely not a gaming card...I can now truly recommend a Ti4200 over the FX5200....they are roughly the same price and the Ti4200 waxes the $hit out of the 5200....

What the heck? I thought the FX5200 was a next generation DX9-compliant video card? How can the Ti4200 outperform it? What is nVidia doing, going backwards in technology?

The FX5200 is DX9 but sux at DX9 and will never be able to play DX9 stuff haha. Its slower then a Geforce3Ti200...

Yes the 5200 is a POS
The 5600 is decent but no where near the Radeon 9600
The 5900 is good but not as good as the radeon 9800 and highly overpriced
