View Full Version : BitTorrent + BT ++
I have only recently started using BitTorrent, but I want to know what is the difference between BitTorrent and BT++. Is it similar to the difference between KaZaA and K++ or DirectConnect and DC++?
Uhhhh, is it just a different client? I've also recently started on bitorrent, but I use Burst! and BT as my clients, so I think it's just different programs to open the torrents

its p2p file sharing program. i like it cause u can dl sure files. not like kazaa lame people always mislabel them. and to use bt torrent, u just dl the client(the program) and in order to dl stuff you dl a these little files called torrent files. they have the file extention (.torrent) these file allow access to the file that all the peopl have. i think everyone should try it out. its slow but u get what u need. just play around with the uploads to get it going faster. and make sure to take off all ur firewalls n stuff so you can dl faster.
Thanks for that. I will try using shadows experimental client and see if it is any good

You guys are livin' in the past. Haha. Newsgroups is where it's at. You can find just about ANYTHING in newsgroups. There are lots of stuff that kazaa and bittorrent don't have. And get this.. this is the best part: you always get your max download speed. That's right, you're downloading from a large centralized server run by your ISP (or whichever news server you choose) so you NEVER get slow downloads. Don't believe me? You just have to try it out for yourself. I always get 375K downloads, always. Morning, day, or night.

Go here if you need a tutorial on how to set it up: www.newzbin.com

It also functions as a search engine for the entire usenet community.
I too used to be a newsgroup nut but then i went to uni and i no longer have access to the newsgroups as my internet connection isn't through the same isp. Are there any decent free news servers?
If it's free, you can't complain. I haven't really looked though cause I use my ISP's.

Well, if you've been teaching junior high and high school students as long as I have, you quickly find out that you certainly can complain even if it's free (they sure do!!! ). Of course, I never put up with it and tell them to clam up and take a hike, but they sure try!
I've been using the Torrents today and they're are pretty cool because I found some rare files.

There are a few things that bug me though. First off is that it's hard to find torrent sites on the net because they're getting shutdown really quickly. I wonder how suprnova.org manages to stay up. Also, I dislike how each download window makes an icon in your system tray. At one point my system tray was like taking up a fourth of my screen because I had so many open. It would be cool if someone made a manager to have em all under one icon. Finally, it sucks that to share the file you have to leave the window open (is that correct?).
