Hi, I hope that you can help me out with this nagging problem that I can't
find the way to fix it. I have a home LAN with 4 pcs, running Win XP, all
are up to date with the patches, Norton AV, TCP/IP and NetBios (I know, I
know) but I have to try everything. Same workgroup and static IP address
(same subnet mask as well). My two son's PC can talk and see each other,
transfer and share files and folders, but they can not see my PC, I can see
them but when I try to tranfers I can not ( I get a error message" error
copying file or folder, make sure that the disk is not full or write
protected,..." or I get the logon window where I need to put my username
and password (I'm the administrator for my LAN), I look all over to find a
solution but to no avail.
I hope that you can help me out with my problem

Best regards

Eltano

Eltano, The problems you are getting may due to the hardware you have in your computers. I recently set up an old box (pentium 1 166 Mhz) on my existing network and all I can do is get the internet. It is not completely capable of the things in which my other 2 rigs are able to due because of how obsolete it is. I am runnning it as a server machine, so I am not concerned about my other computers recognizing them. If this seems to be the problem, and these problems are an inconvenience, then you should think of upgrading.

System Specz:

Koala case with 350w power supply w/10 fans + slight moding
Epox 8rda+ mobo
Sapphire Radeon 9100 @289.50/265.50 (250/200 stock)
Seagate 40GB HDD, 7200rpm, 8.5ms seek time, + 2mb cache
2 sticks of Geil pc 3200 256MB clocked at 2.5-3-3-11
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ JIUHB clocked at 2250+ GHz

It has nothing to do with hardware. I already fixed, all the problems was software related. I have to setup the same users in all of my pcs within the network, with same rights and with passwords for every one of them. And for my hardware, I have P4 and Athlon pcs with Western Digital HDs running XP Pro with all the patches.

Thanks anyway and best regards

Eltano
