Hey all,

Is there a way to edit what is in the right click menu for internet explorer? Basically what I want to do is edit out something that was placed there.

Here is the story, you will probably get a kick out of it as I should have known better.

I sent my brother an e-card, an e-card of somewhat questionable nature, nothing raunchy but still x-rated. After I sent the card I went into my favorites folder to go to another site and it was full of a bunch of links that I did not put there, all porn stuff!! So after running Ad-Aware and getting rid of 52 new spy ware files, registry hacks, and home page hijackers I still had a file in "cdocuments..." and a link to a porn site stuck in the right click menu when using IE.

How do I get rid of that link? Is it in the registry or a file?
I also tried using the windows search, That little puppy couldn't find a bone if it was stuck in his .....ummmm.... ear.

Thanks in advance.
rofl, sounds liek a worm. try using trend micros house call, free online scanner. here is the link to housecall. sry im not much help with this, cuz my dad had the same problem, i tried spybot sd and that didnt get rid of it. so i hope this helps

Thanks in54n3,

I gave it a shot but it said I was clean.

My guess is if it got put in, there must be a way of taking it out. I just have to find out where so I can take it out manually.

I do have a backup up of the original registry, what do you think?
My guess is if I do that any program will have to be reinstalled.
I could use the system restore but would I rather find it.

Anyone?

Never mind guys, I got it!

For anyone who has a similar problem this is what I did.

seeing how the windows search came up with no results I tried searching the registry. I didn't know how to do that but there is a help section. (dahhh)

Open edit then click on find, I typed in the main word for the web site it was bringing me to and there it was!!

delete! bye bye.

It was in java so I have it disabled in security, is there a better way? Custom settings?
