I don't know if this works for XP, but on 98SE you can remove the Recycle Bin by downloading and running TweakUI. There is an option there to remove the Recycle Bin (also to rename it).

Sorry, I guess you're out of luck. Just checked out the Microsoft website and it says that TweakUI works up to Win2K...

Anyone else?

right click on the recycle bin and click the tick box saying 'Do not move files to the recycle bin. Remove files immediately when deleted' ... This will completely bypass the recycle bin.

Hey westy,

Check this out. It looks like there is a TweakUI available for WinXP. See if that will help you get rid of the Recycle Bin.

Watch out when using that program, don't change too much. I started changing a few things and it managed to mess up my desktop icons even though I didn't change anything of the sort. It took ages messing with the registry before I returned them to normal, although I seem to recall that my taskbar icons never recovered before I reintsalled Windows... Stupid TweakUI If they gave you the options natively in Windows we wouldn't have all this garbage.
