View Full Version : WinXP not detecting correct space on HDD
is your hdd bigger that 127gigs and do you have xp sp1?

winxp reports wrong hdd sizes if you don't have sp1 and you have a 127+gig drive
I'm not sure where to exactly post this, but here's my problem. Windows XP seems to not be detecting the correct amount of space on my D: drive. I've ran scandisk on it several times, and it says that there are no problems, however, I know there's a problem, because whenever I delete or uninstall something, the amount of space doesn't change. I've also ran Disk Cleanup, but that hasn't helped. Anyway I can fix this problem?

Does it remain the same after you've dumped the recycle bin?
Yea, it stays the same, when I delete smaller files, then it'll show the amount of space increase, but with larger files, it doesn't. I copied a 300 meg file off my computer, and onto another one through the network, and the space didn't increase, so I guess it's only with larger files.
