I generally use the hidden file feature in XP Pro to hide various things, program files, utilities, things i don't want the gf to see...but it is so annoying to always have to go into the toolsoptions menu. I was wondering if there was anyone out there with sufficient knowledge of the Windows environment to point me in the direction into how to make a shortcut button or key combo that would change that setting for me. ANy help would be great, the ideal solution would be able to do it with a quick launch button kind of like the show desktop button. Thanks
-Me

u could do something simple like just place the folder deep in some program files or windows directory in a separate directory ( where ur gf wouldn't suspect ) , and just click on the directory that u wanna create the shortcut to ONCE, and hold it after u click it and drag it down to where u see the 'show desktop' button, just move it around the edge of the 'show desktop' button till u see the plus sign and let go , the folder will be added in the quick launch.

That is an Idea, but I keep things like program filed, windows directory, music directory, etc. all hidden and I can't really put my windows folder in a obscure windows folder...anyways, i feel it's easier to put all my non-gf friendly stuff in the pr0n folder and have it hidden. so shoot me.

well just to bump up an old post, i idi manage to make me a nice simple little vbs file that does the trick no problem. If you deal with a lot of clutter in your drives consider hiding some of the files/folders you dont use then stick a link to this vbs aptly named hidden into your quicklaunch or wherever and you have an easy solution to going into tools/folder options everytime you want to hide/unhide stuff. here is the link to the filehidden.zip
It's hosted and written by me and norton and avg scanned for viruses/errors whatnot.
if you are using norton antivirus it might say that a maliscious script is trying to change your registry but you should let it do it everytime. you can open it with notepad to verify its integrity. hope someone gets some use out of it, i know i use it all the time.
