Ok heres one for the software guru's. Ive been running a program from www.grid.org called UD agent. The program is designed to use your cpu power to solve equations that base themselves on protein ligands. The ligands are systematically disassembled and tested with other chemicals to see if they might support a beneficial effect to help out with the fight on cancer. I actually started this to see what my computer could shove out, now im doing it just to see how high on points i can get.

I know it sounds stupid but thats what im doing... Anyway (here comes the question) i was thinking about hooking up my 64 bit computer to my AMD 2500 barton to get more Cpu power via a grid or interprocessing program that would be oriented twords the program and therefore get more points. I am currently installing the program into the two different computers but the point system is based on how shi|Ty your processor is and how much it can push out... an AMD 3200 64 bit CPU is expected to push one out every 5 hours so therefore the points accumulated would be the same as if i ran it under a 2500 barton at about one every 10 hours... this is made to even out the playing field so everyone would make same points even if they had different budgets. If i could hook up the program and share the load of the CPU via a program from my 64 bit to my 2500 then i would be in the pointage the program would register the cpu as putting out more then its supposed to and therefore more points. The UD agent program would recieve the data form the barton and assume that it got the project done in 1/2 an hour rather then the 10 that it should take...

(and finally the question)

Does anyone know where i can find such a program that would allow me to link my 2 Windows XP systems together and share the CPU load that this program provides????

basically you are asking if you can cluster your systems.

you can cluster with os's such as linux and win 2k server or advanced server .. obviously not cheap software ... wel linux is free ... but you better have alot of free time to cluster with linux .. win2k is a pain in the but for clustering as well.

why dont you just run two seperate instances of this program. one on one system and the other on the other system .. you will actually output more points this way then you would with a cluster .. it takes processing power to connect two or more computers together .. yes it will be faster then a single computer .. but not as fast as two computers are in singles.

yea i know what you mean...ok i have been doing that but i think by cheating the system i owuld get more points... My PDA had news of a program that helped organize some 800 laptops and then clustered the CPU power to attack a task and rank the total output...thats what spurred my interest in porgrams...I knew about linux but i like to game and linux isnt the best for gaming.
