what u need to burn a dvd movie from a mpeg

if u have an mpeg video file, what do u need to convert that to for u to be able to burn a dvd with a program such as nero? i think it asks for like .ifo files or .vob or something, how do i convert mpeg to these or w/e i need?

With Nero 6 I have burned DVDs from mpeg, avi, and wmv file types to DVD video. No extra files, no weird process, I just burn them using the DVD-Video wizard thing.

i use nero6. i open it up, hit make a dvd-video, it takes u to where it says video_ts and audio_ts, i hit add, it says like *.vob *.ifo, i make it all files, i add my avi file, and it says "no compatible file found"
