they do them cheaper (in the uk) at <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ebuyer.com">eBuyer</a> - i got 2 ide and a floppy rounded ide cable for less than £3!!

Yeah, that's where I picked mine up. Just if anybody fancies a "brand name" over the Ebuyer stuff <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

surely there wouldn't be any difference between branded and unbranded...not as if one can perform faster data transfer than others!!

Well there is atleast a difference between rounded and normal IDE cables as shown <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.legitreviews.com/Reviews/cables403_1.shtml">here</a>

Nor I... I thought they just scrunched the wire up for you in a neat bundle and slid a plastic case over it...

I stuck my HDD in the bottom front of the case so it would be cooled of by my 92mm front fan. So I also had a 4" ribbon cable lying around so I used that. Im pretty sure its 40-wire so when I get home today I will plug in my round cable and see if far cry loads faster lol
