sparkyc76 I would expect your normal temps to be around 40 degrees idle. The IC7 in teh bios anyway reads temps that are 10 too hgih in general.

Do you know which revision PCB your motherboard is based on?

Well im pretty new at this and im sure that this has been disscussed plenty of times, but I was wondering if any one else had an Abit Ic7-G mobo, it seems to give false temp readings.

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~3006 Mhz
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 GenuineIntel ~3006 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 2/24/2004
SMBIOS Version 2.2
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.1106 (xpsp1.020828-1920)"
Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 587.79 MB
Total Virtual Memory 3.40 GB
Available Virtual Memory 2.62 GB
Page File Space 2.40 GB
Adapter Type RADEON 9800 SE AGP (0x4148), ATI Technologies Inc. compatible.

What would normal idle temps and load temps be for a setup like this. and are the readings taken from the motherboard accurate ?

umm im not sure what a p4 system should be running exactly, but it should probably run 40-45C idle? u didnt specify any temps....whats it runing at?

P4s have something called "throddling" to slow themselves down before they REALLY overheat. It's hard to cook those chips. Yeah, 37-42C idle is about right. Ambient temperature differances, case fans, ect.

my stock temps under load are about 33, generally around here i think alot of us try 2 keep our temps under 50c if possible,
