What is a firmware?
Do I need to reinstall it when I format my HD and re-install everything even I just flash it before format?

What firmware are you talking about? Firmware for a router? Your MP3 player? Firmware is essentially reflashing the FlashROM on a piece of hardware so it can handle new instructions, fix bugs, offer new options, etc. For example, last month I updated the firmware on my Creative Nomad ZenII, and part of the fix was enabling the titles that won't fit on the small screen to run across the screen so you can read all of it when the cursor is resting on that item. It only needs to be done once, just like flashing the BIOS = won't change if you reformat an HDD and reinstall the OS.

It's the TDK CD-RW writer48x24x48D Internal drive I'm talking bout.I can't find the latest firmware.
So,firmware is a thing like BIOS controller?

exactly. reflash the firmware once and you're done (until a newer one becomes available). If you did it prior to the reinstall, you don't have anything to worry about.
