continous pausing in game.........

when i am playing the 3d game it will having continous pausing for abt every 1-2 sec, it makes the game very lag and it was not like that the last time i played. in windows, roughly every couple of secs the cpu usage will shot up or peak for 1 sec and i dunno y even when no app or games was left open..............anyone noe wat was happening and how to solve this pausing and sometimes lagging problem????????<BR><BR>motherboard: intel D845GEBV2<BR>2.4B GHz<BR>RAM 512MB 266MHz<BR>20 GB harddisk<BR>windows xp with sp1
