I had a CD Write able Drive go out and I replaced it with a new one, But unfortunatly the new one doesn't work either. I would like to certain files from this computer to the computer that I'm Going to build this weekend, but am unable to because i can't write the files to a cd. I was told that the Migration kit could transfer folders or whatever I wanted to keep to a new computer but i don't know how to use the Migration Kit. I was wondering what all i need to do or get to get the Migration Kit to work?

Thanks Robert

are you gonna keep the same hard drive with your new rig or get a new one? if you have 2 u can just set it as the slave drive and transfer all your file to your new hard drive? ive never heard of a windows migration kit so i dont know if there is one. so you replaced your cd-rw drive with a new one and still doesnt work? did you look at the ide cables and see if thats the problem?

Yes I'm Getting a new hard drive with the new rig. when i looked at the cables they seemed to be in tip top shape. I ran my fingers down the cord to feel if there were any knicks or cuts in the cable, but i didn't feel any. I've never had this problem before and this computer is almost three years old. I have a HP Pavilon and when i first started the computer it asked if i wanted to bring over files from my old comp, maybe the migration kit is an HP addition.
