Well I saw the Aerocool deep impact dp-102 heatsink and it seems to be good. But I was wondering if its good enough to beat the Thermalright sp-97?? Most review sites are pretty much unclear. :(

I faffed around with this decision myself for a while, but at the end of the day I'd go with the Thermalright. The Deep Impact perhaps may just be half a degree cooler when you stick two Deltas on it... but it may not. If you just stick to the Thermalright you can't really go wrong, except I'd get the slightly earlier version without the heatpipes, because they just seem to get in the way, and when you mount the mobo vertically (as we all do) then they have next to no impact anyway. I don't think anyone's opted for the Deep Impact yet (aside from Colin, he might have reviewed it at some point) so it'd be interesting to see how it really performs if you do want to try something different.

i missed my chance :(... i saw it on ebay for 40 bucks canadian...then a day later another one for 20 bucks canadian..LOL...i should have gotten one...now the only one there is around the price of a sp-97...

my swifttech keeps me moderately happy....but not as cool as i'd like...probably one or two degrees higher than a sp-97 i think...so im still thinking...maybe wait till more surfaces about the aerocool...

Is it really worth the upgrade for 1-2 degrees? Do you not want to save a little and maybe go for watercooling or something? Just a thought...

The swiftech is one of the best, its not worth the upgrade in my opinion...
Also has anybody seen Thermaltake's new hsf? fecking @$$holes copying thermalright lol. They could never make something of the same quality. The only thing I like about it is that you can actually screw the fans in instead of just using clips

unfortunate it's not. go with the thermalright. it's still a better cooling solution. save the extra bucks or two for the watercoolin.

Yeah bluegreen...you already have the MCX462-V... there aren't very many heatsinks that out perform it. and the ones that do don't out perform it by that much. I'd say save the $$ that you would have spent on a different heatsink and buy a water block. Then slowly peice together a H2O system...then your temps will be a-OK!

Hmmm...I guess so too...it's just that my room gets to about 26 degrees on some hotter days so my idle temp is up to the high forties...makes me feel kinda uncomfortable :P...but I guess I'll wait...thanks for the advice guys :D

yea my room temparutes vary so much, and somtimes i idle at 41-42, which is not good, but this is at 200x12.5 1.8v. at 200x12 1.7v my cpu runs very cool, but i like the 2.5ghz, the only times ive seen it hit 50C was when my room was about 90+F'

i went with the dp-102 (i got the Limited edition gold plated one) and where my idle was at about 42c it now idles at around 34c (thats a p4: 3.0 Ghz). a friend of mine has one of those nifty thermoelectric cooler things and it idles at around 38c (he payed 75 for his, i payed 55 for the dp at newegg)

bluegreen, put a more powerful fan on that heatsink and you'll see your temps drop

my fan can pushes about 80 cfm's of air...its just that i cant take the noise :P

dude the orb SUCKS. I used one in the system I just built. Its so loud and doesnt move any air... A tornado @ 7v would be quieter and push much more air than that thing...

hmm..i've been thinking about it...how do you empty and fill watercooling tho?? what if you have to take it apart?? it seems so confusing...
