That's where I ordered mine from. People who bought the X800 PRO definetly got ripped off, but that's what happens when you want to be first. The wait is actually over 4 weeks. Mine is expected to ship 32 days after I ordered it (7/14).
i just about crapped myself when i saw it and decided to splurge rather than wait until august or september to buy one.

Your not going to save any money by waiting. What's the difference if you spend the money now, or in September. At least if you get it now, you have all summer to enjoy it :)

And to be honest, the way the prices are looking in Ontario here the X800 Pro will remain at the price I paid for it with the X800XT coming in for another $100.
That's an amazing price on the XT though, I wish those kind of deals made it to my area.

That's an amazing price on the XT though, I wish those kind of deals made it to my area. My post was refering to waiting an extra 4 months just to buy the same card at the same price. By waiting an extra 6 weeks, you can get an XT Platinum for less than the current price of the XT Pro. I'd definetly say that is worth it...at least to me. I don't really have any significant problems with my current graphics. I don't remember what you upgraded from, so maybe it is worth it to you to buy early.
Why would Gateway be selling that card for so cheap? Is it because its an AGP card and PCI-Express is getting rdy to be introduced?
Because people will be buying from them instead of newegg, gameVe, zip-zoom-fly, ect... just like devils said

The 8X AGP card actually performs about 1FPS faster in most games than the PCI-Express version that will be released. That is because these cards are not native PCI-Express cards, so the signals must be converted. The conversion causes a latency hit, and the 1 FPS performance drop.
think i should wait or buy this now, cuz i really want to have somtin to hold me over for awhile, like how the 9800pro was king of the hill for awhile, is this that type of card?

This card is more like the 9700 Pro. It dominated the market for years. It even performed pretty close to the 9800 Pro after that was released. If this is the card you are going to buy, there really is no point in waiting 6 months, just to buy it for the same price.
it might be worth buying a couple and selling them on ebay :) they're going for no less than $525.00 US when the auction closes.

Yeah...that's always a good option. Of course, you never know if that may be a common price by the time you actually get the cards. Then your going to have to go through the trouble of selling them, just to make little or no profit.
DAMN YOU PEOPLE!!! AHHH I WANT ONE!!! I just installed the new 4.6 drivers lol. Still was using 3.10. Maybe I will get a lil more performance in far cry lol

ever since they were out lol. I dont remember. Too lazy to download new ones. They worked for all my games, so why fix something that's boken right???
Are you sure this is the x800 XT Platinum Edition? I don't want to seem like an idiot but the box picture is lacking the "Platinum Edition". I know a picture is never a good indicator but I would rather be paranoid and question it when the alternative could be buying the wrong product. I just noticed that the product description is "ATI RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition - graphics adapter - RADEON X800 XT - 256 MB" so this is the Platinum Edition for sure? Plus when you go to buy it, it says "ATI Radeon X800XT 8X AGP 256MB"

Well the only difference between the regular xt and the PE is clock speed. So even if its just a regular xt it can't be beat for that price

Not at all...
Mercedes and BMW actually have numerous models which are cheaper than Audi's. An entry level Audi is more expensive in comparison to the other to automobile manufacturer's line. Just averages out more expensive. But isn't this a PC forum :P
GateWay just called me and the card is being delayed another month.
aw hell, they called me about 2 weeks ago and said it should ship on the 8 of August. I'm getting antsy.
o hell i'd be pissed, sure its a good deal but i can't imagine w8ting that long after i payed for something. i would seriously feel sory for you guys if ati anounces the new cards in september (i really hope they use a new core and aren't just 512 megs)
If they do come out with a new card in September, then I will sell the X800 and buy the new one.
Well, I just called Gateway about 3 minutes ago and they said that my card is in the warehosue and will ship within the time frame of 48-72 hours (probably means sometime next week) so hopefully the rest of yours will ship soon also.
