If you are the system adminstrator, why are you getting an access denied error? If you aren't the system administrator, the real system admin must not want you to close things in the taskbar.

i have no idea, i left my pc on over the weekend when i was away, and when i returned, a massive amount of spyware seemed to have found its way onto my hd, now i can't remove it with lavasoft or ashampoo, and i can't shut down the processes because they give me that error, before i could shut down critical windows processes without a problem, and yes i am admin

Give Spy-Bot a try. It's an awsome program that usually has no problems removing spyware/adware. Also go though the list of programs installed on your system (Add/Remove Programs), and uninstall anything you don't recognize.

hmm spybot doesn't seem to help any more then the other addwares, and i did an add remove and can't seem to find anything that stands out, guess i'll have to format again in a week :(

* Nevermind i used a "restore point" to go back in time as it were and it fixed everything :) gotta love windows xp :)
