i have a problem with my comp i have fitted a new sound card
but cant get it to install ?
it keeps saying that i do not have enogth resorses to run and install the drivers ?i have disabled the onboard sound but still no luck
i noticed that its using the same irq as other hardware can i change the no?
its a fairly new system and has 5 pci slots of which only 2 are in use?
the system is
atherlon2200xp
nriva64
256mb 2300ddr
onboard sound?(now disabled)
mobo is a shuttle ak32
hope someone can help?

Stewart, what operating system are you using? and what model is the new sound card. If you know what you are doing, get into device manager and find out what the IRQ is and what it is sharing with. Sometimes you can change the IRQ with jumpers on the soundcard, but that seems unlikely with a new card. hope this helps

the operating system is win xp home
its a sound card from a comp fair no idea of make ?
there are no jumpers on it
its sharing with the usb controller

See if there is jumpers for your usb controller to auto-detect the IRQ.
I had that same problem with a sound card and a modem.

thanks for the help
have been on shuttle motherboard site
and found out how to assign a seperate irq for my sound card now using seperate one configered manualy instead of plug and play
working fine now
