I want to know what happend to my computer
I had just bought a new computer and after i'll say month and a half I tried to install a game using directx 9.0b Iwent to dxdiag and it said I didn't have any drivers I used system restore but All my programs where deleted not the files for the programs but the .exe files. I'm not connected to the internet so its not a hacker

thats what system restore does, happend to me as well, nothing you can do about it, but you still have all your save files at least

Yep, thats why I have my hard drive partitioned into a windows and a storage partition. And on the storage partition I have a handy little folder called backup. I have every single install file, patch, crack, and driver I have downloaded since I have had this HDD in there ;)

You might also think about getting backup software, like a good hard drive ghosting program like Norton Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Image. These programs allow you to take an image of your hard drive (kinda like taking a picture of it). If anything goes wrong, you just copy the image back onto your hard drive and you are right back to where you started (at least to the moment you took the image). I always make it my policy to have two hard drives on my system. One I use as the main drive and the other I use as ghost/backup drive. This way, I've never lost any important files or programs on my computer.
