It appears that I can burn my tunes in WMA format to data format. Is this a good way to back up my songs or move them to another computer? I don't want to lose any more quality.
I can't take this computer to the other location or bring that one here. And would like to have my music at both locations without hauling all of the original Cd's to there. It's a 6 hour drive one way.
Not interested in a discussion of different players , I'm happy with Windows Media Player.
TIA James

Welcome to PCStats jamesrpm.
Yes you can burn WMA files as data to a CD. I have a couple of DVDs with data back-ups of my MP3 music. Just add the files and burn the disc the same way you would a normal data CD.
Yep, it's a good way of doing it. You'll fit a tonne more files on there than if you burned a music CD. However, if you burned a music CD you'd be able to use it in CD players afterwards too... but I think you'll find it'll be a max of about 20 tracks for a music CD, whilst you should be able to fit hundreds on a data CD :) Burning to a data CD won't affect the quality.

depends how much music you have to take, If it was an option i'd just take the whole Hard drive to other PC....drop it in as a slave and drag and drop all the files onto the HDD in the other PC. Saves burning anything at all.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, the computer has to remain running , it's the gateway for 4 other to the net. I suppose I could get another hard drive but that hardly seems cost effective.
Well u just remove the hdd while ur adding the files, then you put it back. But burning CDs works too :)
