Are the Athlon Mobile 2500+ supposed to be run at 1.45V only under the CPU voltage setting? I think mines running a bit high that's why it is at such a high temperature? I think it is running at something like 1.575 v

How high is high temps? I'm running my 2500+ mobile at 1.775V and it idles near 45C. If you're getting inordinately high temps, then I'd check to make sure that the hsf is seated correctly on the cpu. Also, you might check whether the layer of thermal paste is too thick or not. I find that too thick a layer actually causes the cpu to run hotter.

too thick a layer will increase the temp...but no idea by how much. You really just want it filling all the tiny holes in the chip/die surface and then giving a flat surface... on an AMD it should almost be translucent I reckon.

ooo translucent?... then I bet mines is too thick! I am getting 48C at load! It is currently at 200x11.0, vCore 1.575
Lemme post up my stats tmr.. getting tired.
How do u guys usually redo ur thermal paste? like take the whole mobo out and do it again?

fraid i'm no AMD expert...but 48C dont seem too bad. thermal paste moves the heat but doesnt dissipate it...so thicker paste changes the gradient from heatsin fin temp to CPU temp... but I can't really see the difference between perfect thinness and the thickest you can get on it being more than a degree or two, <<< that isn't based on any testing or reading of tests though...i might be fatally wrong :-)
I'm actually about to do the same thing liz, and I think I'll probably take the motherboard out to do it, cause I don't wanna bend it when I have to put the heatsink back on. Call me conservative but I don't wanna chance bending/breaking something that is just a result of me being lazy :P.

Guys, no need to take the whole motherboard out. Just unhook the heatsink and remove the cpu from the socket (unlatch the lever arm and it should pop right out). Clean the old gunk off the cpu die, reapply the thermal paste (I use a razor blade to lay down as thin a layer of Arctic Silver 5 as I can), and just pop the cpu back onto the die. Then you can reseat the heatsink and fan and you are all ready to go!
Antilizard, 48C at 1.575V is definitely too high. At those voltages, I think I was averaging near 35C idle. I'd make sure again the heatsink is seated right on the cpu die. It may be that your cpu fan is too weak as well. Is it a high cfm fan like a Vantec Tornado or Thermaltake Smart Fan II?

vantec aeroflow, nothing done to it, it's like 43C idle 48C load

Although those temperatures seem a little high for those low voltages it's nothing to worry about yet. You may be able to bring the temps down by reseating the HSF and reapplying the paste, but if not you are not in any danger of the CPU melting.
Yeah as westy and I always discuss on MSN u guys are pussies when it comes to CPU temps :p Anyways you also gotta take into account case temp. My CPU is at 200 x 11 @ 1.675 and its 49C but my case is 38C!!! I need an AC in here and quick...

maybe my wires are kinda messy inside the case, I got 3 fans running in my case, 2 at the back(outtake), 1 at the front(intake). Average case temp is around 34C
When my living room is at or below 70F my case runs 30C thats with an 80mm back exhaust and 92mm panaflo top exhaust. All my case fans run at 7v

damn! The way u do the wires inside the case is good
How do u wrap everything up so neat and tidy? Any tips would be helpful. Thanks

yeah, everytime I start a topic.. u are like the only one answering..weird
lol. I live on PCstats. I log in when I wake up, when I get to work, before I leave work, when I get home, and then b4 going to bed. LMAO
Anyways, thnx for finally recognizing my wiring skillz. I just routed them behind the mobo tray ;)

I just reapplied the AS5, this time it's thin as air, also I wired some of the molex plug behind my mobo, temp should drop this time

finding my cpu's max is taxing even for my watercooling system, 50+! gotta change the configuration a bit

change which config?
So what are your temps now Antilizard?

48 Load, 41/42 idle, average temp around 45
Ok, sorry... Lemme ask again...
What exactly are you running at? Also, what are your case temps and cpu temps? Ive got AMD Athlon mobile 2600+ running at 2600mhz, at 44c idle and 48c full load... But about 5 feet from me there's a mobile 2500+ pushin 2300mhz at 48c idle 54c load... Yikes... Of course my own comp has a WAY better hs and better cooling over all... I dont like it running that hot... but I built it for some guy who only gave me so much... and I had to work with the budget I had... Ill probably drop it to 2200mhz in hopes of lowering that temp a bit.
