I have a Biostar M6VLQ Motherboard with integrated video card but I´m
planning to install a new PCI video card.
I have already tried everything to disable the on-board video card to
use the new one instead, but things didn´t work as planned. First of all
there is no explicit option to disable the video card on setup, neither a jumper on main board.
There is an option to choose init display (PCI or AGP), I guess AGP
means the integrated one (as this motherboard have no AGP slot), so I
tried to use PCI, but didn´t work as well.
So, I ask you what am I supposed to do to install this new PCI Video
Card in this motherboard?
there has to be an option in the BIOS, if not disable it from the device manager
is this Biostar mobo in a Compaq? or Dell? or similar?

I posted that exact problem earlier this year, I had that same board.
Here is exact, complete email I got back from Biostar support.

They must just use a generic BIOS, which has features that the motherboard doesn't support.
Beware of things that go BUMP in the night ;) or morning, for that matter.
(bump)
I realize this is an old thread, and an even older board, but believe it or not, I'm still using this board with a Celeron 1200 Tualatin-256 and a 64MB PCI GeForce4MX 420 with TV-out running Windows98SE with 384MB RAM a 20GB ATA-66 hard drive, and a 40x12x48x CD burner.
It's the slowest, oldest system I have, but is an ideal retro gaming rig. It runs everything I've dared to throw at it - I've been careful not to throw anything newer than about '00 or '01 at it - but I do have a minor problem with it. I'm quite certain Biostar tech support would be completely useless to help with this issue, given the last post, plus this motherboard is WAY too old for anyone there to even care to try to answer my question, so I thought I'd ask here. In fact, that's the primary reason I joined this board.
The thing is, that it only initializes the video card sometimes - usually it takes a couple of cold boots to get it going - otherwise, I think it probably falls back to the lame on-board video - I don't know for sure because I don't have a monitor plugged into that port. This is an annoying, but not completely crippling issue. I'd like to eliminate the problem entirely. I am wondering, could this be a power supply issue, or is it something else? I believe I've patched up the the very latest BIOS possible... I think that would be dated 01-01-03 or something... what is wrong here? I hate having to cycle power on this rig, or even worse, just let it run 24/7 so I don't have to futz with it... any ideas?
It sounds like a problem specific to that motherboard, or a PSU problem. I can't really help with the first, but the second can be tested fairly easily.
As for running old games, what's your current rig? You might be able to get a virtual machine running.
