im looking to upgrade my rig and i would prefer it to be quiet rather than tornado loud again (even tho i had a fan controller on it as well!), as that was a little to much for me..

so with the new 939 cpus are they hotter than the 754 models or not? is it worth water cooling with these cpus if your not planning on overclocking them? would a decent air cooled cpu be enough to keep these hugely fast cpus cool? what would be a decent temp for them to run at?

my xp1800 at the moment is running at about 52C under a full load with a spire heatsink and fan and with an front and back (intake and exhaust) fan as well. although im not bothered about this rig so much, i would be with the new one! i prefer myself to keep loaded temps under 50C so, would this pose a problem with the newer 939 cpus just on air cooling?

any thoughts, ideas would be great to hear :) thanks for your time guys :)

watercooling is always better than air cooling, it just matter on how much you want to spend, some thermalright heatsinks perform better than some watercooling units, but the good watercooling units have no match, except for the phasechange which cost a massive amount of money.

if water cooling is going to be a lot better for the amd 64's then i might consider doing it.

the main reason i have brought it up is simply because of the noise level of my old tornado 92mm vantec fan which was on full power was a little to much to bare!!

what would i have to spend to get something better than air cooling that would justify the performance difference?

when i do do a job, i try not to do a half ar$ed one!!

thanks for the reply!

I find watercooling to be much more bearable when sleeping in the same room as your computer, even soothes me to sleep :)
