this guy right here has a gigabyte triton GA-7N400 Pro2 nForce2, an ati aiw 9600xt, 2X 256 pc3200 kingston, amd axt3.2k+, and bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard suite from MS. when booting, if there is a pereipheral plugged in the usb port the bois screen will stop driectly after scanning for the cpu. it will stall there until the usb device is unplugged. it boots fine without restart after pulling the device out. all components are new and instock conditions (no OC, or mods). already tried loading default bios settings, but to no avail. havent checked for bios upgrade. anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to Pcstats icyfyer!:) I would look for a bios update and see if that does anything. If it still gives you problems the motherboard might just be bad.:( Also did you try multiple usb devices or was the same one giving you trouble everytime?

it seems that the only thing that actually makes the board freeze is the introduction of the bluetooth dongle. if he takes the dongle itseld (just he little reciever) out and turns it on, it boots fine. tried the bios update, unfortunately it didnt solve the prob. oh well...ill tell him to junk his blue tothe for something better.

has he tried changing stop error mode in the BIOS to "No Errors"? I'll bet it's set to "none but Keyboard."
Also many BIOSes have to enable USB Keyboard support.
Are the batteries in his KB good? Just a thought....

you know what? i tried that one too. i thought of the same thing, because its wireless. but it doesnt even get that far. it stops while scanning for the cpu. ait shows no keyboard error or any other error. we tried switching the bluetooth to a hub, and that didnt work. we tried switching it to a different port, which works for a while, but still comes up after a few boots. no clue why this could be happening. i think he is deciding to listen to me and buy the soyo dragon ultra platinum edition. sweet ass sweet...

No! nonononono. Unless they now have an Ultra P with the VIA KT880 I strongly advise against purchasing the KT400 or KT600 versions!. The board may be sweet to look at, but that's as far as it goes.
Nope, just checked their website and the 880 is black, non-UP. Don't do it! My first purchase was that very board and I have regretted it ever since. The boneheads at SOYO claim it will support PC3200 DDR (they'll try pushing Mushkin BTW), but I never got mine to run higher than PC2700. not only that, but my 2800+Barton ran stable in it, but when I tried selling it to Levi for his 3000+, it would randomly crash (I've spent weeks verifying that all the other hardware is not responsible for this). That board is a REAL POS!
They tried revising the chipset with the KT600 but that version benchmarked even worse than the KT400.
