View Full Version : Hard Drive Problem
Can anybody please Help me I have two hard drives in my computer and this is my prob. I just went through my tech support with Dell and did a rerinstall because of some issues but there is where I got a bigger prob. the tech guided me through the process and I thought all was well but I didn't realize what had happend. He while taking me through the reinstall had me delete the partition or my second drive which is where I put all my backed up stuff and a lot other things I guess what I am asking is there anything that I can do to fix the drive and get my stuff back. By the way Dell told me that they can't and won't do anything to help me any further.

I did this about two weeks ago by accident...
First don't write anything to the dirve or you decrease your chances for recovery. You will need to use a software data recovery tool to scan the drive and try to recove the files that were there. There are a number of these tools available online and you can either purchase the application or some had a smaller client application that required you to pay on a per use per GB basis. Luckily a friend of mine was able to help me out using Ontrack Easy Recovery version 6 to pull a lot of my files. That program worked rather well considering I had written files to the drive.

Man, that sucks! Didn't the Dell guy ask you if you had any important files on the hdds before telling you to format them? Sometimes tech support causes more trouble than they solve... I hope you can get your data back. In any case, welcome to PCStats! :D
