Ok, the reason I ask is that I have used nearly all of the tweaks mentioned in the guide and my machine was running blazingly fast! :D
Then a couple of days ago, Microsoft finally made SP2 available via Windows Update and I tried to install. This is where things went horribly wrong!
After downloading and installing SP2, Windows Update indicated that a reboot was necessary. I rebooted and a blue setup screen appeared indicating an installation of SP2. Eight dots appeared in succession... and then stopped. I waited about 45 minutes and nothing else happened. It just froze! I restarted the computer and the same thing happened. I tried "Last Known Good Configuration" and then "Safe Mode". Neither worked.
To make a long story short, I ended up reinstalling XP (which of course wiped out all my tweaks :( ) and then updated to SP2 without a hiccup.
So, before I try using the "101 Tips and Tweaks for Windows" and "99 Performance Tips for Windows" again, I was wondering if anyone knew of any that were incompatible with SP2?
