My husband just took my 18 year old son and his computer to college. Before he left I reformatted his hard drive and reinstalled windows 98. I reinstalled all the drivers etc.. and computer was working fine. He got to college and now he is having video card problems. He says when he boots the computer the is one long beep and two short beeps. My questions is could they some knock the video card lose in the move and is there anything he can do to it to get it working without replacing the video card.

It is entirely possible that the video card (or the ram) might have become unseated during the move. What he needs to do is open up his case and push down firmly on all the ram modules, the video card, and any PCI cards he has inside his computer. See if that fixes the boot problem. If not, ask him to describe as exactly as possible what happens and post it back here. It also helps if you include what components he has (cpu, mobo, ram, video card, etc.).

Also, welcome to PCStats!!! :D
