NTFS Partition formated :mad:

I have 40 gb hdd , i had a single partition NFTS with XP Pro installed on it. I formatted the HDD into two partitions assuming i had taken backup. later i realized i have missed some important files. can any one please help me out from this situation, the data is vrey very important.

Have you written data to the drive? You get the best chance for recovery if you have not. There are a few online tools that can be downloaded and run that will scan and recover lost and overwritten files with suprising success. Some you need to buy the program or pay on a per-use basis to get your stuff back. The actual scan is free so you can see if there is anything worth grabbing.

I did something like this not long ago. A friend of mone had Ontrack EasyRecovery 6 that we used. It seemed to get about 80% of what I was looking for despite having written to the drive.

most likely not...those free tools will only tell you what it has found...if u wanna recover it (as westy said) you gotta pay
