I have a gigabyte 8KNXP 875P motherboard and was wondering what the 875 means the board was gave to me and if you could give me any other info on what to use to build a pc I will be playing games and doing video and pics on the new PC

You better thank whoever gave you that board, as it is a very good motherboard. If they have anymore, I will gladly give them my address to ship them to, even if it is a P4 board.

As far as PC components related to that motherboard, you'll need a Pentium 4 with an 800Mhz FSB, and some PC3200 DDR. The speed and quantity is really up to you. To get the most for your money, you should probably look into a P4 2.8-3.2Ghz. If you can get the Northwood core, that would be more favorable than the Prescott core. I would expect that 512MB of PC3200 would be good for you. What sort of gaming do you do?

875 means the spec of the type of processor you will need to stick in that holy socket. 875p means a revision of that 875 socket which in your case very upgradable when looking for a newer 875 compatible proc With a higher fsb than you're recent one, I'm an AMD fan so i might be wrong correct me if i am

There is no 875 spec intel proc. The new one is 775 and the older one is 470-something. 875 is the chipset number thingy. I have an 865PE. An 875 is the same one that the P4C-800 uses. (very good mobo). Whatever...I dunno.
