I do not know the correct way to flash bios I guess! I use the utility that came w/the mobo but it still says I have the earliest version? I need a step by step proceedure to flashing my bios :o As you can see I have an i865pe chip set. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You will need to get the latest BIOS from the Asus website, make sure to get the BIOS that matches your boards model and revision number exactly. Copy the BIOS file (.rom) to a floppy disk and then reboot. Does your board have the AWFLASH tool? If so all you need to do is push Alt+F2 during POST to enter the BIOS flashing tool. If not check the motherboard manual for step-by-step instructions. Once you are in the AWFLASH tool there should be instruction on the screen but I beleive you just have to type the full filename of you new BIOS file and away it goes.

Any particular reason you are flashing your BIOS? If you aren't trying to correct an issue or something I wouldn't bother flashing it.

last time i flashed the bios of my asus board i just used the asus update tool which look at the internet for bios's files

at times it happend that the TW or the DE sites had newer versions then the US site (and not it did not change the language of the bios)
i also had to change some setting to make it include beta bios files

back before the asus update i would follow the pretty good guide in all of asus's manuals about how you flash your bios

why do you want to flash anyway ?

newer bios's these days dont add speed
most of the time they just add support for newer versions of the cpu's

I'm looking to see if a newer ver. of the bios have the utility tab in the advanced part for putting the cas or ras "something like that" to the 2/2t for my memory ram. This is something that Colin was talking about in tweek section on a 865pe mobo. Thaought that this might help with timmings on my ram?

then find the name of the mobo you have and choose the bios you want

but there is something pretty odd happening if your current bios dont have cas and ras settings
my old 700Mhz cpu's old mobo had those

in your bios there should be a place where it say
By spd
when it say that then it ask the modules to pick their own
ram timing
and if change it to custom then you can change ras and cas to a more aggressive timing

that's what i thought but I can not find it? I go to bios and to the advanced chip set and there is nothing in there! I'll post later what exactly is my choices!
