View Full Version : Interesting SLK900 Fan Mount

Came across these pics while doing my daily tech reading. I hadnt actually thought of doing it but apparently it can be done

That picture is someone using a Thermalright SLK900 w/ a 120mm Fan. Theres no fan shim involved or anything. I cant tell which holes but it looks like the uppermost set of holes and the smallest set of fan clips (70mm ones).

Im curious if using a setup like this on my 947U would yeild better temps or not.

Honestly IMHO that's a waste of time, the dead spot of a fan is just under the motor and with a fan like that you're basically covering the whole heatsink. You'd definitely be better off with a 80 or 92mm fan.

i agree with Colin...in a lot of reviews the 92mm and 80 mm tornado perform nearly identical...

although your nb temps will definitely be better...
