It could cause instablities and possibly an early death...but I guess you could give it a try...

What heatsinkfan are you using on your cpu? Any other fans in the system?

It may not even be the powersupply :p

well its a combo of the cpu fan and the psu right now. i have the amd stock cooler, one of those huge zalman gpu coolers, and 5 of those 14db silenx case fans, and an antec sl400. i am planning on getting a slk-948u and a vantec 92mm stealth that i listed above.

Cut more holes in the PSU and weld an even bigger heatsink to the one thats in there rawr!

bluegreenshxt is right, ideally your gonna want those fans to be moving at least as much air as the ones that are in there or your gonna be lookin for trouble

if your really looking for silence, those fans aren't going to let you perform the way u should be able to. i suggest water cooling. may be pricy, but one-2 fans is about as quiet as your going to get probably

Also, if you plan to open up your PSU, be extremely *CAREFUL* not to touch any of the capacitors. Even with the PSU unplugged and turned off, they can hold enough charge to kill you.
