NASTY TROJAN WON't GO!!!

I was hit by this : Trojan Horse Collected.L and tried to clean it with AVG antivirus(also updated the virus list)3 times still it always appear again.

Here's the warning message:

Virus
Trojan horse Collected.L

is found in file
E:\WINDOWS\system32\iexplore.dll

To remove this virus, please run ANG for Windows.

BTW, E:\is my main HD. I forgot to unplug my backupdrive while formatting it.

I don't really like or trust AVG. I've removed viruses (or just formatted) for too many people that use AVG. I haven't dealt with that trojan specifically, but try searching Symantec's website for steps or an automatic removal tool.

My other bit of advise is this. I know it only takes me about 1.5 hours to format and reinstall Windows including all my software apart from games. So if something is going to take longer than that to troubleshoot I just format the drive. I keep all my documents on a second harddrive anyway and have regular backups on my external for anything important.

Have you tried the latest avg antivirus , they have just released version 7 for free , it seems to be considerably better than version 6

if you type in the name of the trojan you dont like in google and maybe add remove
then you'll find 1000000's of pages telling you how to remove it manualy

if your still hurting to get rid of it, try using a-squared 2 (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/). its a trojan and malware locator and remover. works really well if you keep it up to date. its free too! cant beat freeware. its located at the bottom of the page. happy holidays
