new hd with windows xp ?

I have xp pro sp2. I will be getting new raptor drive soom and will not be using my current hd anymore. I would like to know if it is possible to somehow move my os and files from my current hd to the raptor without losing any data. So what I want to do is have all my info like I have it now and move it to the raptor and then no longer use the hd im using now. is there anyway to do this.

The closest I have come to such an operation is to use something like Norton Ghost or Partition Magic to clone the partition onto the new drive. Everytime I've tried this the OS will not boot after the clone and a repair install is needed. The repair install just copies new Windows system files and sets things back to the generic drivers. You will need to install your drivers again afterwards but your data and applications will be intact.

When you do the Windows Setup don't forget to press F6 at the beggining of setup so you can load the SATA controller driver.

thanks ill look into cloning more. Ill prolly just end up using my buddies external hd though. I cant afford to lose my music.
