I am working on a computer for a friend (totally pro bono, so I'm not getting anything out of this). He fancies himself a computer geek. He partitioned the hard drive then installed Win98. He then went to install Linspire (former Lindows) and managed to wipe out the hard drive. Unfortunately I can't get to any computer screen to do an Fdisk and when I go into the computer, something he has done has caused the keyboard to freeze during boot, so the disks (aka dos, Win 95,98 and XP) just sit there because the enter on the keyboard does nothing. I've used the boot disks for all of these programs and they are frozen due to inability to use keyboard. I tried going into Linspire and the keyboard is frozen in there as well. I can move the mouse and it works. I am totally unfamiliar with this program and think he's messed up something in there as well because the CD's drives are showing up as browsers. Is there someone with a little Linspire/Lindows experience that can help me get the whole computer repartitioned and put WinXP on the C drive and Linspire on a L drive for him?
:D

Can you get into your BIOS? Does your keyboard even respond when you power up?

I finally got into the bios and changed it to accept my keyboard. I then put in a dos disk (just to get the lindows off) and now it boots up to continuous 40's.....HELP

I have got it to accept a disk. I then put in my Windows 95 disk, although I didn't realize it at the time, it was not the correct one. Now because of the wrong disk, it's asking for a password to get into the bios or to continue. I have tried all the passwords that the owner has and nothing is working. I know from what I have read that there is a dip switch that if flipped will erase the password, but have no idea which one it is. I've located the video, keyboard, and speaker dipswitches, but obviously they aren't of any help.

that jumper usually stands out, mine is green, but most of the ones i've seen are red. you could also find it in the manual for his motherboard.
