I'm trying to get the Steam utility to work on my new rig so I can play half-life 2, but it can't connect to the Steam Network. I have followed the steps on their support page but no beans. Steam works on my laptop and I have my router firewall off, so it can't be my router. I disabled the windows firewall and the integrated Nvidia one on my Nforce 4, so I have no firewalls. I even disabled my antivirus and tried ending all the processes that I don't absolutley need. I scanned for spyware and viruses, still no beans!

What the heck is going on? Plz help.

Do you evan have an actual internet connection? Oh wait. Ya you should because ur posting in the forumz...stupid me. Can you open up steam by itself? Maybe it has something in there that can change it.

What an odd problem.

EDIT: I see you have a new rig. Please post specs!

Nah, I can't even connect to steam on this comp. I can connect on my laptop, but there are no settings to change. On their support site, it says Steam does not support Internet Connection Sharing. Could this be the problem? Strange, because I've been using my router and other comps hooked up to it the whole time i used Steam on my laptop

New rig specs are in the siggy, I still need to tweak this thing, i just got it running practically. I also just discovered how to overclock on this mobo.

i figured it out. The dual ethernet ports on my mobo was screwing up steam. After i swiped my drive and only reinstalled the drivers for the Yukon Gigabit port, and didn't install the NVidia one, steam worked perfectly
