Software Mini-DV to DVD

I bought a Sony DC-30 video camera and it's a mini-dv version. It says that I can hook it up to my PC with the supplied USB cord and then burn DVD's off of my PC. But...in reading some posts the users are saying the supplied software is crap. So..I was wondering if any of you know of any freeware software (or cheap) that will do the trick.

easy cd creator 6 plat has a dvd builder that can take it straight from a camcorder....you could TRY it if u want, its all i kno of though
