According to what I heard, Bittorent first examine ya hd and make a mark according to the file size that you download. This process will slowly kill the HD as the HD will think it's out of capasity.

Is it another "PC urban legend" or true?

huh?
why would having used space kill a hd ?
unless you are trying to download much more MB then your hd would ever be able to have ?

when the dl is finished and you remove the file your space will be back to normal
or if you cansel the download it's also free'd

a hd is a physical device and filling all the sectors with what ever dont damage the physical device at all

the bittorrent is only reserving space on the drive so other things dont get written to these sectors while it is downloading. I guess it's so there is no fragmentation. Wouldn't hurt the drive physically, and if it did cause a problem you could always low level format the drive and it would be blank again.
