Ever since I upgraded to Xp pro sp2 from WinMe, I've noticed that the mouse pointer hesitates when I move the mouse, and the music I play clips (this didn't happen with WinMe). Sound is onboard. The only difference in hardware is that with Xp I'm using a wireless nic as opposed to a wired one with WinMe. In Windows Task Manager/Performance, cpu usage shows irregular peaks even though only music is being played. When it peaks, clips would occur. I don't know what's causing the peaks. Only an anti-virus program and MSN are loaded in the background. I've tried unloading these programs but to no avail. I'm also using the latest drivers/BIOS for all the hardware.

I would appreciate any comment/advice.

Hardware:
AthlonXP 2000+
256MB of PC2100
Radeon 9000
MSI board with KM266 integrated chipset
D-link wireless nic

I suppose it sould be a driver conflict but I really am not sure. Try reinstalling the drivers for the affected devices. Make sure the old driver gets deleted.

When you installed XP did you "upgrade" or did you format and do a fresh install? If you upgraded, espically from WinME, you should format and reinstall windows.

Thanks for your reply. The XP is a fresh install. I've also tried it with Win2k on a separate partition (fresh install). The same problem occurs. I've emailed D-Link about the problem; let's see what they have to say about it.
