What's the deal Microsoft allows you? One machine per lisence? I think I remember hearing or reading about something that said you can have it installed on your main computer as well as your laptop. Is this correct?

You can activate the windows 4 times before they consider its unvalid........... in which you have to call microsoft to ask for new activation keys........
I think it will work.............. :D

lol, what you do, is you get xp pro, make a new copy of your cd, and tweak it, so it thinks its a corporate copy, and you never have to activate it, its so much easier that way

actually the file with the activation info can be backed up and restore after a reinstall to avoid re-activating it, it only works if the hardware profile hasn't changed since the activation though

Stlouis, do you have a link to some instructions on how to do that? I actually think it is a little different in Canada though, maybe unlimited activations because I have never had a problem and I know I've formatted more than 3 or 4 times.

Play around with the software, i'd give it the best tweaker out there, never had any problem with them. The backup of XP activation is nifty, but neh, i'd settled for a.......................:D

ya, when i posted that last night i couldn't think of the filename, then i was talking to 1 of the guys about and he knew the name of it, but i forgot, i have a link somewhere for it, ill PM you about it, im pretty sure its a DAT file. but also keep in mind, if you do an mobo + cpu upgrade or something major like that and you reinstall windows, you cannot restore this file after that because its bound to the old hardware
